First Mercer Butterfly Count
Frank Bader

The first Mercer Butterfly Count, sponsored by WCAS, took place on July 19. Sixteen participants on five teams recorded 3313 individuals of 33 species. The count is part of the Fourth of July counts organized by the North American Butterfly Association, and modeled after the Christmas bird counts. A story on this count appeared in the August 2, 2003 Trenton Times. Detailed results are contained in a document available on our website under WCAS News!
