Holden Fund Grants

Several years ago Washington Crossing Audubon Society received a generous bequest from the late Polly Holden to be used for conservation and environmental education. WCAS provides grants from the Holden Fund to assist individuals and organizations in advancing conservation and environmental education through initiatives broadly related to birdlife and bird studies. The 2013 Holden Grant recipients are:

$4,500to The Nicoya Peninsular Avian Research Station for bird banding stations on the Nicoya Peninsula.
$5,000to Life Net for banding and monitoring of birds and environmental education in the Loma Alta Ecological Reserve (Tumbesian IBA) and Reserva Las Tangaras (Choco IBA).
$2,500to Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space for invasive species control on Baldpate Mountain.
$4,000to the D&R Greenway Land Trust for habitat restoration at the Cedar Ridge Reserve.
$3,000to the Kenneth Francis Memorial Fund to establish an outdoor avian educational facility for Plumsted Township.
