Taxonomic Listing of birds identified at Mercer County Park NW - 06/14/08
The Eileen Katz Memorial Fieldtrip to the "Pole Farm" was held on June 14. Quite a croud of participants came out on what turned out to be a rather hot and humid morning. The temps started in the low 70s; but reached the upper 80s to low 90s by the end of the walk. The temperatures may have played a part in keeping the number of individual birds sighted to a relatively low number; but with 47 species identified, it quite a variety of bird species were present. Eileen's daughter Carol joined the walk and carried her mothers trademark 'field bag' with well worn field guide that her mother was well known for. The walk ended near the Eileen Katz Memorial bench and plaque where a
dedication ceremony was held that afternoon.
